[vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]As part of Sister Nivedita’s 150th Birthday celebrations, the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, organized a cultural programme – a dance drama, -Swacchha Ganga – A river with a Soul” in the Vivekananda Auditorium on 30th July 2017. This is a mythological ballet choreographed by Smt. Rajeswari Sainath, who also took an active role in this dance drama. Along with her 14 more artists including her daughter, Ms. Vaishnavi (who portrayed the role of Ganga) participated in this programme.

Smt. Rajeswari Sainath is a leading exponent of Bharatanatyam as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and scholar. She has also expanded her horizons to include fusion works by collaborating with artists from the West. She has choreographed thematic ballet presentations on our vast cultural traditions by her troupe which has received wide acclaim.

For this programme Respected Sushri Uma Bharati, Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, was invited as the Chief Guest, for which she kindly agreed.

Accordingly, the Hon. Minister arrived at the Ashram on time and the programme started with a welcome address by Revered Secretary Maharaj. Then the dance ballet began with a salutation to the River Ganga and traced its descent from heaven to earth, mingling with other rivers like the Yamuna and Saraswati form the confluence of the river trinity – the Triveni Sangam – during its long journey. Interspersed with mythological stories, the ballet ended with Ganga Arati by all the dancers.

At the end, Rev. Secretary Maharaj expressed a few words of appreciation for the excellent enactment of this dance drama by Smt. Rajeswari Sainath and her troupe. Then the Hon. Minister Sushri Uma Bharati addressed the gathering and appealed to them to lend all the support for working for a pollution less Ganga and maintain the purity of Ganga, which will be of immense benefit to our countrymen.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Video Recording of the program:
