Sri Sri Lakshmi

Sri Sri Lakshmi

Sri Sri Lakshmi Puja is usually celebrated at Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi  on the auspicious occasion of Sharad Purnima. The Sharad Purnima or Kojaagari Purnima is a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin (September–October). It marks the end of monsoons (we barely had any). At night, goddess Lakshmi is worshiped and night vigil is observed.

In parts of Odisha, Sharad Purnima is known as Kumar Purnima, where Lord Kartikeya is worshipped.

At the Mission, on 7th October 2014, a special puja of Mother Lakshmi started after the evening Arati of Sri Ramakrishna. The puja is also special in that no cymbals or bells are rung. Singing of devotional Stotras and bhajans marked the evening’s worship. All the assembled devotees (about 250) partook of Prasad at around 10 pm.

We uploaded a few pictures from the occasion to our Facebook page.
