Every year, hundreds of homeless people die due to the cold in the Northern parts of India. Delhi also has it’s share of grief as temperatures drop to single digits in the winter.

Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi distributes blankets to such homeless people and other underprivileged sections of society every year. This year too, on 13th January, around 300 homeless people got blankets, food packets and warm clothes. The whole occasion was keeping with Swamiji’s dictum of serving people as ‘Narayana’ (the Lord). Volunteers, members of the Vivekananda Youth Forum and other devotees turned out in good numbers to organize and co-ordinate the function.

The presence of Rev. Swami Suhitanandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math as well as Swami Suviranandaji, Asst. General Secretary, Belur Math, was an added inspiration to all of us.
