Special Kali Puja in image was celebrated in a grand manner at the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi on Dipanwita Amavasya, i.e., on the night of 26th October 2011 (Friday).

The image of Mother Kali was brought to the Temple a day earlier and installed in the Nat Mandir. The blue image of the Mother with flowing black hair and golden ornaments was awe-inspiring. Special decorations were arranged to give a new look to the temple. The Garbha Mandir was also tastefully decorated  with flowers on the walls. Sri Thakur was adorned with a new dhoti and Holy Mother with deep red coloured sari. Swamiji too was covered with a new gerua silk cloth.

The Special Puja of Mother Kali started at 8.35 p.m. in the evening after the regular arati. Swami Shantatmanandaji Maharaj took the responsibility of being the Pujari, assisted by Swami Tattwatitanandaji (Manavendra Maharaj) and Swami Amritapurnanandaji (Sameeran Maharaj), who served as the Tantradharak. Kali kirtans were sung by Binapani Samiti, Salkia, and Shri Deenabandhu Chattopadhyaya, Howrah, and Shri Chandi Das Mal, besides Br. Abhayesh Maharaj, Shri Chandra Nath Mukherjee and Shri Champak Chatterjee, accompanied by Shri Ashok Brahmachari on Tabla till Puja was over. The Puja was completed by 2.45 a.m. in the morning of 27th October 2011.  Bhoga was offered to Mother Kali from 2.50 a.m. to 3.10 a.m.  Bhogarati  for Sri Sri Thakur was done at 3.15 a.m. by Revered Secretary Maharaj.  This was followed  by Pushpanjali at 3.30 a.m. The assembled devotees got a chance to offer their flowers, accompanied by their prayers to the Divine Mother.  Havan was done from 3.41 a.m.to 4.30 a.m.  Regular mangalarati of Sri Sri Thakur took place at 4.35 a.m. The entire puja programme was completed  by 5.00 a.m.

After completion of Puja, Prasad  was distributed to everyone.

At 9 am, the idol of Mother was kept at the entrance of the Nat Mandir facing the image of Thakur. Final arati was conducted by Swami Tattwatitanandaji Maharaj.   All sadhus, brahmacharins and devotees bowed to Mother Kali and bade Her good-bye with the loud rendering of ‘Kali Mayee ki Jai’. The image was taken to the Ganges at Gadmukteswar for immersion.
