Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi organized a World Meet for Peace and Harmony on Sep 11 and 12, 2012, as part of the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda. His Holiness The Dalai Lama graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, spent some time at the campus attending an All Faith Prayer Meet and also inaugurating the newly built Museum on Swami Vivekananda. Here, he is giving his benedictory address to start the Peace Meet.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is both the Head of State and the spiritual leader of Tibet. His Holiness was called upon to assume full political power after China’s invasion of Tibet in 1949. He drafted a democratic constitution for Tibet in 1963 that was followed by a number of steps towards democratization of the Tibetan community. In 1987 he proposed a Five Point Peace Plan that envisaged Tibet as a zone of peace and harmony for all beings. In 1989 His Holiness was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet.
