[vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, celebrated the National Youth Day on 29th January 2016 by way of organizing a cultural programme and a Public Meeting starting at 9.30 a.m. on that day.
Accordingly the National Youth Day programme started at 9.30 a.m. with a cultural programme in which as many as 15 schools from Delhi and NCR, besides the Sarada Children’s Forum of the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, presented different items such as songs, quotations from Swamiji, value-based dance, skit on Swamiji etc. The very first item of cultural programme consisting of Song on Swamiji, two skits in Hindi and English and quotations from Swamiji was presented by children of Sarada Forum of the Ramakrishna Mission. The entire cultural programme took three-and-a-half hours and it ended with a dance performance by Delhi Public school, Rohini, Delhi.
At about 11.15 a.m. a Public Meeting was organized in the Vivekananda Auditorium itself with Shri Anand Kumar of “Super 30”, Shri Vinayak Lohani of “Parivaar” and Shri Nimesh ‘Nimo’ Patel of “Empty Hands Music”, besides Swami Shantatmanandaji as speakers on the dais. Students of Uttam School rendered a group song.
Shri Ananda Kumar’s Super 30 is a highly ambitious and innovative educational programme which strives to identify 30 meritorious talents every year from among the economically backward sections of the society and prepare them for India’s most prestigious institutions – the IITs. During the programme the students are provided coaching, lodging and food absolutely free. Over the years, it has produced hundreds of IITans from extremely poor background.
Shri Vinayak Lohani after doing his B.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur, and MBA from Kolkata, opted out of the placement process and started ‘Parivaar’ with just three children in a small rented building and virtually no financial resource. Today it stands as a shining example of social entrepreneurship.
Shri Nimesh Patel (popularlyknown as ‘Nimo’), even after finding great success as a musician and music producer in his twenties, wanted to seek something more meaningful and fulfilling. This journey of self-discovery has led to creations such as ‘Ekatwa’ and ‘Empty hands music’, which has brought him international acclaim.
At the start of the Public Meeting Swami Shantatmanandaji welcomed all the dignitaries on the dais as well as the students and others assembled in the hall and then made an impassioned speech in the light of Swamiji’s ideals and teachings. This was followed by brief speeches by Shri Anand Kumar and Shri Vinayak Lohani. Then Shri Nimesh ‘Nimo’ gave a beautiful speech along with singing of the notes composed by him. The above meeting was followed by the remaining items of cultural programme by School students.
After the cultural programme, winners of the Annual Vivekananda Competition 2015 were awarded the prizes by the three dignitaries. Special prizes on behalf of the Ramakrishna Mission to a few schools for encouraging and sending a large number of students to participate in the on-line competition.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Photos from the National Youth Day Celebrations:
