The third major cultural programme organized by the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, as part of the 150th Birthday celebrations was a Hindustani vocal classical music concert by renowned Dhrupad Exponent, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar on Sunday, 30th October 2011 in the Sarada Auditorium of the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi. His performance was mainly focused on Dhrupad alapana while rendering devotional songs. Pt. Uday Bawalkar is the disciple of the famous Dagar brothers of yester-years. Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, made his august presence in the Auditorium and listened to Shri Uday Bawalkar.
At the end of the performance, Swami Shantatmanandaji Maharaj spoke a few words highly appreciating the marvelous performance by Pt. Uday Bawalkar and the three artists who accompanied him – Shri Pratap Awad on Pakhawaj and Shri Sagar and Mayur on Tanpura. He then presented a shawl and medallion to Pt. Bawalkar. He also presented a medallion to each of the accompanying artists.
This vocal music performance was well received by the devotees.
